ROTI PRATA

I love Roti Prata.  Never did I dream of having it at home.  All thanks to my mum, who through the recommendation of a malay lady at the supermarket, bought CHINATOWN brand Frozen Roti Prata.  It is very easy to make, just put some Ghee in a pan (or any oil), and put the prata in.

We experimented by adding eggs and onions to the prata.  Yummy!  This was made with the HCP (Happy Call Pan) - my mum's new toy.

USMAN RESTAURANT

During our recent photo session at Little India, we went to USMAN restaurant for lunch.  The food there is reasonably priced and delicious.

We had Chicken Tikka, Garlic Naan, Bryani Rice and Aloo Mutter.

 I love potatoes

One of the better Naan that I ever tasted.
The Chicken Tikka is not salty like most places.
Wow, look at the long grain basmati rice.

MISC FOOD

My bad! This post is so way outstanding.  Few shots of food collected here and there, snapped on my Nokia.  Photos are edited online via http://pixlr.com/editor/

A huge Batura from Saravana Bhavan Indian vegetarian restaurant.  The chick peas are spicy and very nice.

Bubbly Teh Tarik

Chicken rice from Chinatown Complex.  Cheapest I ever had at $2.50.

MUFIZ CHICKEN BRYANI

After work, I struggled all the way (in extreme hunger) to Mufiz.  Mufiz is located at Bukit Batok MRT, just next to the McDonalds. It is open 24hours.

Today, we finally try their famous Chicken Bryani.  A few times there, I always see a lot of customers eating bryani, and was wondering how good it is. The verdict - It is Very very very Good! I love it so so much, had not have such good bryani for a long time. Why do I like it?   The long grain basmati rice is fragrant, cooked in herbs, it is grainy yet fluffy and soft.  The fried chicken is crispy on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside.  The achar is also refreshing, not too sour.  Only complaint I can think of is the missing Papadum. hahaha..

At $4.50, you can choose to have curry chicken bryani or fried chicken version.  I think I definitely prefer the fried chicken. Yummy!

A snapshot of it, I was too hungry to take any decent shot of it.

BREAKFAST@HOME - BOMBAY TOAST

Monday blues? Nope Monday Yellow! Hahaha..we had a "yellow" breakfast! We had Bombay/French Toast.

Actually I do not know what I was doing, it neither looks like Bombay or French Toast, and partly look like Roti John. What a mess! However it taste okay.

This is my experiment!

This one is KK's, his looks and taste more Bombay than mine.  He uses butter whereas I did not.

BREAKFAST@HOME - MAGGIE MEE GORENG

Ho Ho Ho! Maggie Mee Goreng.  As usual, mine is the "white" version, KK's the dark one.   With his "special" sauce, his is much better!

My pale version, also rather plain. Hahaha..
Ingredients: Maggi Instant Noodle, crab stick, egg, sausage, onions, potatoes, jap cucumber and cabbage.

BREAKFAST@HOME - PRATA WITH CHICKEN CURRY

Prata with chicken curry for breakfast. Nope, we did not make the prata, it's those ready-to-eat pratas.  This one is SpringHome Brand, it is pretty ok, however, we prefer ChinaTown Brand more. More flavour and texture more chewy.

Ingredients: SpringHome prata, sugar, chicken curry, cabbage.

Preparation time: 30mins
Curry is from the can, we added some cabbage to it.  I think the mutton curry goes much better than the chicken curry.

INDIAN DINNER

My dinner the other night after work at McCallum Street.  Almost forgot about this.  We tried the maggie mee goreng which is pretty good, I will definitely order it again.  Prata is ok but I do not quite like their gravy, a bit bland.

INDIAN FEAST

Went over for Indian food after work yesterday, before heading to a friend's place to fix her PC. This is from Bukit Timah Road, the stretch of food opposite Beauty World Complex. The stall is Al-Ameen, it is super packed, so popular. Their menu is really almost everything under the sun. Took us a while to look through.

Had Nasi Goreng Ikan Bilis, Fries, Omelette, Butter Naan, Chicken Tika. Could not finish my food as usual.

Chicken Tika is a little salty on its own, would be perfect if only  we had ordered the Nasi Bryani.
I prefer garlic naan, this is the first time trying out butter version, find it a bit oily.

MR. TEH TARIK CARTEL

It has been a while since I  blogged about food. Lately our new hang out place for food after work is at Tiong Bahru Plaza - Mr. Teh Tarik Cartel. So far, we  have been there twice only, once last week, once this week. Here are the stuff we tried. The maggi mee goreng is nice, too bad I did not take a shot of it.

The above is the Egg Thosai. Somehow I realised I am not a Thosai person. I don't quite like it. I love the prata there, it is the chewy type.

KK had the Roti John, the bread is soft, unlike some places so hard. Not bad. Although I am not quite used to the red/white thingy on it.

Overall a pretty good place to go, with good drinks and food at affordable prices. Will be back there often for sure. By the way, they are open 24 hrs.
