Wow, it's been a long time since I posted anything here. I am so sorry about it.
A few months ago, I discovered Jollibee at Lucky Plaza. Few years ago, they were just a little outlet there, but now they occupy a big space on Level 6.
I would say it is rather a refreshing taste from other fried chicken, not that the rest are not nice, but this one is just different with the various choices of side dishes.
The Novena outlet is not as nice, the chicken is pretty 'anemic' looking and salty. Still the outlet at Lucky Plaza rocks.

CHAR-GRILLED SALMON
Woohoo, it is Salmon time again. Had a very unsatisfactory lunch yesterday, so decided we will make our own today.
Ingredients:
Norwegian Salmon
Bi-Colored Sweet Corn
Romaine
Half a carrot
Cherry Tomatoes
Onions
Sauce and toppings:
Basil, parsley flakes, tartar sauce and mustard.
Butter and sea salt for the corn.
As usual, we marinate the fish overnight with soya sauce and honey. KK grilled the salmon whereas I prepare the corn and salad.
This is our version of Char-grilled Norwegian Salmon. Yes love it.

HAM AND CHEESE SANDWICH
Struggled with my low sugar this morning and prepared this breakfast. Ham and cheese sandwich with a little side salad, not a full salad because my avocado is still olive and not brown yet.
Ingredients:
The salad - Romaine, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn in sesame dressing. Also strawberries.
The sandwich - wholemeal bread, cheddar cheese and shaved ham (which is so salty! eeks) sprinkled on black pepper, parsley and chilli flakes.

SALAD FOR APRIL
More salad for April.
We made egg and potato salad. One of my fav.
We also use mini carrots, not the baby carrots but mini ones. They are half the size of the normal carrot. Still hardy and crispy and yet serving size is just right.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT - MINI BURGERS
Wandering around SBG and feeling tired and hungry, we went downstairs for rest and food. I remembered it used to be a food court down there but now, it is Food For Thought.
The place has lovely ambience, price is reasonable and food is good.
We tried the homemade fish fingers and this Trio Mini Burgers - Spicy chicken, cheese burger and pulled pork burger. My fav goes to the chicken burger. The other two are equally good as well.
This cost $15, individual burger ( full size) is $9.
I like this place, I would return again when I am in the area.
Apologies for the poor image, taken with my cellphone but I forgot I had set my resolution to only 2MP. kwa kwa kwa..

MORE SALADS
It is salad time again, I love avocados.
My version and KK's (with nuts)
Ingredients: corn, onion, japanese cucumber, carrot, avocado, mini romaine, seaweed, focaccia bread with home made garlic spread, potato sticks.
Dressings: honey mustard / japanese sesame
My first time using a ceramic knife for salad, it is good, not much metal taste in food. Perhaps I should start using a wooden bowl, what do you think?
KK made some garlic spread. This is focaccia bread.

Misc Food
Long overdue food stuff..Let's start with
1. Chinatown Special Yang Chow Fried Rice
I got to know this stall from a friend and finally get to try it. It is very good. I do not usually eat fried rice because they are hard and oily, but this is not. Fragrant and grainy but not hard. My favorite fried rice. Oh did I mention that their chilli is also Power!! Add additional $1 for the luncheon meat.
2. Cajun Chicken Thigh from Botak Jones
Chicken is nice but the sides dishes are a little disappointing.
3. Kampong Chicken Rice from Chicken House
Ok loh..Not too fatty but not really fantastic either.
4. Papamia's Nyonya Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak
Chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Rice is grainy but not hard. Overall a nice nasi lemak. Yummy.

SALAD
My simple salad for breakfast. Left over ingredients from the wrap yesterday, i.e. Romaine lettuce, seaweed, crapsticks, japanese cucumber, tomatoes, wrapskin, nuts, sunflower seeds and avocado.
Ran out of sesame dressings, so used a little mayo then mashed up the avocado. It is good.

COLBAR 2011
Oh I realised I missed out this entry. Went to Colbar again for lunch, and for a simple photo shoot with KK. I ordered the Roasted Chicken with Peas but they gave me the mushroom instead. It was delicious too, such a hearty n heavy lunch. I couldn't walk after that.

BREAKFAST@HOME - OUR BIRTHDAY TREATS AND SALMON
A little bit of cooking again. On our birthday, we had MINI hamburgers with chips.
Recipe is similar to that in the earlier post, but without the Romano cheese, eggs and bread crumbs. This time it is just plain simple beef with salt/pepper.
It is nice.
This morning, we tried for the first time Norwegian Salmon - Pan fried. Turned out very nice.
The one on the right is KK's. Mine's the one above.
Mine is very simple seasoning, with just light soya sauce only. KK added honey and some other herbs to his formula, but taste equally good too.
As for the vegetables, no seasoning at all. Just some sea salt when served.

BREAKFAST@HOME - PIZZA
This morning we tried something new, thanks to my friend Jehú Paulín for the inspiration and idea. We call it the Pizza Bread.
Ingredients used: Bread, Honey Baked Ham, Dole Pineapple in a can, tomatoes, Mutti tomato puree, cheese, and Parmesan for toppings.
Procedure: Apply the puree on the bread, spread the toppings over the bread and put the cheese on top. Grill in a toaster oven for about 5mins and add some Parmesan for topping when served.
As it is my first attempt, I think I used too much ingredients and used the wrong type of cheese. However, overall still it taste good.
KK have a different version. He got his inspiration from an Indian stall that serves Pizza Prata. Here is his version, with Prata as the base instead of bread. He used cheddar cheese instead and it melted well and goes well with the pizza. As usual, I think his version is more successful.

SPAGHETTI
My messy spaghetti. Have not had this for a long time, been having pasta vegeroni instead. Verdict - I think I prefer the pasta, it is easier on my weak stomach. Spaghetti gave me indigestion.

BREAKFAST @HOME - CHICKEN FILLET BURGER
Finally we make our first chicken fillet burger from fresh chicken instead of using those ready-made patty. It is nice, much nicer!
We used boneless chicken leg which we get from the supermarket, marinate it overnight and just grilled it the next morning. Preparation: 30mins.

CHICKEN CHOP
We have guests today, we invited them over for Chicken Chop. It is quite a challenge cooking for 6 pax share.
The portion for guests. They prefer the bigger plain bun.
My own version, with small bun.
We served our guests hot choco. We finally found a brand of hot chocolate that we like - Bonchoco.
Yummy hot chocolate with little marshallows..
So exhausted now, with all the cooking and washing up. But it has been fun. Thank goodness the food and drinks turns out edible. hahahaha..

Our first time making so didn't know not to put so much, so full until can hardly wrap it up.
Got KK to wrap it for me. Yummy it is nice, I love it. Simple meal.
