We have our usual Poh Piah on the first day of CNY. We spent so many hours preparing it. We started at 10am, and finished at 4pm. KK's brothers and my relatives came over for it.
Some of my friends are curious what this dish is about. Here it is. The main base of it are turnips, carrots, beancurd, bamboo shoots and cabbage.
These are the raw ingredients for the base :
3 small turnips, 7 carrots, 4 beancurds, 10-15 leeks, bamboo shoots 1 packet, 3 small cabbage.
Additional add-ons includes:
These are additional ingredients that you can choose to add to your poh piah or give it a miss if you do not like it. We started this option because there are some in the family who does not like mushroom, some do not take prawns..etc. They includes 1 packet Fresh Shitake mushroom, 1 packet of lapcheong, 10 cloves garlic, prawns and about 8 sticks of crabsticks, also 3 eggs, and peanuts.
Then you wrapped up the ingredients with the poh piah skin. You apply chilli sauce, dark sweet sauce and the garlic to the skin, layered it with lettuce before putting in all the ingredients.
The final look:
I had 4 of this today.. Feeling so full now, what a fantastic CNY.
